John Mason, one of the top 1% of Space Marines, the Prime Marines, is the sworn protector of the Captain and command officers of the Hesperia, and in charge of security. Mason is a driven, honorable Prime Marine, bio-enhanced, and highly intuitive. But after his attempted murder during cryo-sleep, he is now suspicious of everyone, except those few he considers his new family. At the heart of the mystery is an enigmatic octagonal tube no one can open, or understand its strange etched symbols; yet it holds the key to their struggles. Mason uses all his great strength, and considerable powers of intuition to thwart hundreds of mutinying miners and traitors from the ship’s own ranks.
